Terms of Service

Last updated: August 2026 · DutyBoost · Amsterdam, the Netherlands

Please read these Terms carefully before using the DutyBoost platform. By registering or using DutyBoost, you agree to be bound by these Terms. DutyBoost operates a Performance-based Customer Acquisition Infrastructure for Global Travel, and these Terms reflect the standards, obligations, and practices of the international travel and airport retail industries.

1. Definitions

  • Platform: the DutyBoost web application, APIs, and services operated by DutyBoost, also referred to as a Performance-based Customer Acquisition Infrastructure for Global Travel.
  • DutyBoost / We / Us: DutyBoost B.V., a legal entity registered at the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (Kamer van Koophandel) under number 42053181, Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
  • User / You: any individual or entity accessing or using the Platform.
  • Travel Partner: a travel intermediary that generates DutyCredits via the Platform on behalf of their travelers — including travel agencies, tour operators, airlines, online travel agents (OTAs), accommodation providers, car rental companies, transfer services, cruise lines, and rail operators.
  • Airport Retailer: an airport-based commercial entity (duty-free operator, F&B outlet, or landside/airside retailer) that accepts and redeems DutyCredits at a point of sale.
  • POS Partner: an enterprise Point-of-Sale (POS) technology provider whose infrastructure is used by Airport Retailers to validate and process DutyCredit redemptions, and which earns a revenue share of the platform fee on transactions processed through its systems.
  • Traveler / Passenger: an end consumer holding a confirmed travel booking who receives and redeems a DutyCredit. DutyBoost does not send emails to travelers; DutyCredits are delivered to travelers by their Travel Partner through the Travel Partner's own booking confirmation and return-journey emails.
  • DutyCredit: a unique, single-use, non-transferable digital incentive code generated by the Platform, linked to a specific confirmed booking, redeemable at participating Airport Retailers.
  • Booking Reference: the unique identifier (PNR / booking confirmation number) associated with a confirmed travel reservation.
  • Platform Fee: the performance-based fee payable to DutyBoost upon successful DutyCredit redemption at an Airport Retailer, calculated as 2.5% of the gross transaction value, capped at €25 per transaction.
  • Revenue Share: the portion of the Platform Fee distributed to Travel Partners and POS Partners as commission.
  • Refund: a partial or full reversal of a DutyCredit redemption, including adjustment of the associated Platform Fee, Revenue Shares, and any amount owed to the traveler.
  • Force Majeure: any event beyond a party's reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemics, strikes, air traffic control disruptions, government travel bans, or airport closures.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By using the Platform, you accept these Terms, our Privacy Policy, our Cookie Policy, our Code of Conduct, our Billing & Dispute Policy, and our Data Processing Agreement. If you are registering on behalf of a business, you warrant that you have authority to bind that business.

3. Service Description

DutyBoost operates a Performance-based Customer Acquisition Infrastructure for Global Travel — a shared, performance-based commercial ecosystem that connects Travel Partners, Airport Retailers, POS Partners, and travelers through DutyCredits. Every confirmed booking can generate one or more DutyCredits that reward the traveler, drive footfall to Airport Retailers, earn the Travel Partner a Revenue Share, and earn the POS Partner a Revenue Share when redemptions are processed through its infrastructure. DutyBoost does not operate as a travel agent, airline, accommodation provider, car rental company, or retailer, and does not sell travel products. Importantly, DutyBoost does not send emails to travelers. DutyBoost sends emails only to Airport Retailers, Travel Partners, and POS Partners that decide to work with, integrate, or join the ecosystem. Travel Partners are solely responsible for delivering DutyCredits to their travelers through their own booking confirmation and return-journey emails.

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age with full legal capacity. Travel Partners must hold all applicable licences and accreditations required to operate as a travel intermediary in their jurisdiction (e.g. IATA accreditation, ABTA/ANVR membership, or equivalent). Airport Retailers must hold a valid airport retail concession. POS Partners must be legitimate enterprise POS technology providers with authority to integrate their systems with participating retailers. All information you provide must be accurate and complete.

5. Travel Partner Obligations

  • Submit only confirmed, ticketed bookings. DutyCredits must be linked to a valid PNR or booking reference issued by a recognised Global Distribution System (GDS), direct airline reservation system, or your own booking platform.
  • Do not generate DutyCredits for fictitious, cancelled, or refunded bookings. If a booking is subsequently cancelled, the associated DutyCredit must be treated as void.
  • Cancelled or refunded bookings: if a traveler's booking is cancelled after a DutyCredit has been issued but before redemption, you must notify DutyBoost immediately so the DutyCredit can be invalidated.
  • Deliver DutyCredits to your travelers through your own booking confirmation and return-journey emails. DutyBoost does not send emails to travelers on your behalf.
  • Share DutyCredit links only with the named traveler(s) on the confirmed booking.
  • Do not manipulate booking data, ticket prices, or traveler counts to artificially inflate DutyCredit values.
  • Comply with IATA Resolution 890 and applicable NDC/GDS data integrity standards when submitting booking data.

6. Airport Retailer Obligations

  • Honour all valid, active DutyCredits presented by travelers at your point of sale within the validity period stated on the DutyCredit.
  • Apply the correct discount as specified by the DutyCredit — do not apply partial discounts or refuse valid redemptions without a documented reason.
  • Report accurate transaction values at the time of redemption.
  • Do not process false, simulated, or 'test' transactions outside of an agreed sandbox environment.
  • Ensure your POS system or staff are trained to handle DutyCredit QR code scanning correctly.
  • Promptly notify DutyBoost of any technical issues preventing redemption.
  • Cooperate with refund processes where a traveler is entitled to a partial or full refund in accordance with these Terms and the Billing & Dispute Policy.

7. POS Partner Obligations

  • Maintain the technical integration required to validate DutyCredit QR codes and process redemptions through your POS infrastructure in real time.
  • Ensure that your POS systems accurately record transaction values, discount amounts, and redemption timestamps for every DutyCredit processed.
  • Do not process, simulate, or facilitate false or fraudulent redemptions through your infrastructure.
  • Transmit redemption data to DutyBoost promptly and accurately so that Platform Fees and Revenue Shares can be calculated correctly.
  • Maintain appropriate security standards for all data processed through your systems, in accordance with the Data Processing Agreement.
  • Notify DutyBoost immediately of any technical malfunction, security incident, or integration issue that could affect the integrity of redemptions or fee calculations.
  • Do not charge Airport Retailers any additional fee on top of the Platform Fee defined in these Terms; your Revenue Share is paid by DutyBoost out of the Platform Fee.

8. DutyCredit Terms

Each DutyCredit is unique, single-use, non-transferable, and cryptographically secured. DutyCredits are valid for the period stated on the DutyCredit starting from the traveler's confirmed departure date, and may be redeemed at the departure airport stated in the linked booking. DutyCredits expire at midnight (local airport time) on the expiry date and cannot be reinstated, extended, or exchanged for cash. DutyBoost may immediately invalidate any DutyCredit linked to a cancelled, refunded, or fraudulently generated booking. DutyCredits have no cash value and may not be exchanged for currency.

9. Force Majeure

Neither party shall be liable for failure to perform obligations under these Terms where such failure results from a Force Majeure event, including flight cancellations, airport closures, government-imposed travel restrictions, natural disasters, or pandemics. If a traveler's departure is disrupted by a Force Majeure event, the associated DutyCredit will be considered void. DutyBoost may, at its sole discretion, issue a replacement DutyCredit if the booking is rebooked on a new confirmed date.

10. Platform Fee & Financial Split

  • Platform Fee: Airport Retailers pay a performance-based Platform Fee of 2.5% of the gross transaction value of every confirmed DutyCredit redemption, capped at €25 per transaction. No Platform Fee is charged unless a DutyCredit is successfully redeemed at a point of sale.
  • Travel Partner Revenue Share: Travel Partners earn 20% of the Platform Fee on every DutyCredit successfully redeemed by their travelers (up to €5 per transaction). This Revenue Share is paid by DutyBoost out of the Platform Fee — Travel Partners never pay any fee to DutyBoost.
  • POS Partner Revenue Share: POS Partners earn 10% of the Platform Fee on every redemption processed through their POS infrastructure (up to €2.50 per transaction). This Revenue Share is paid by DutyBoost out of the Platform Fee — POS Partners never pay any fee to DutyBoost.
  • DutyBoost retains the remaining portion of the Platform Fee as its margin.
  • All Platform Fee and Revenue Share amounts are exclusive of applicable VAT or local taxes.
  • The financial split is automatic: the Airport Retailer is invoiced only for the Platform Fee, and DutyBoost distributes Revenue Shares to Travel Partners and POS Partners monthly.

11. Refunds & Adjustments

  • DutyBoost supports partial and full refunds on DutyCredit redemptions where a traveler is lawfully entitled to a refund — for example, due to a returned or defective product, a booking cancellation, a technical error, or a verified traveler dispute at the point of sale.
  • When a refund is processed, the Platform Fee, the Travel Partner Revenue Share, the POS Partner Revenue Share, and the DutyBoost margin are all adjusted proportionally to reflect the refunded amount.
  • Airport Retailers must cooperate with DutyBoost's refund process and provide supporting documentation where requested.
  • Refunds triggered by fraud, falsified booking data, or a Travel Partner's failure to void a cancelled DutyCredit remain the responsibility of the party at fault.
  • Refund handling is governed in detail by the Billing & Dispute Policy.

12. Payments & Invoicing

DutyBoost issues monthly invoices to Airport Retailers, itemising each DutyCredit redemption, the gross transaction value, any refunds processed, and the applicable Platform Fee. Payment terms are net 30 days from invoice date. Travel Partner and POS Partner Revenue Shares are calculated and paid monthly. Late payment may result in account suspension.

13. Anti-Money Laundering (AML) & KYC

DutyBoost complies with applicable anti-money laundering regulations. All Travel Partners, Airport Retailers, and POS Partners are subject to Know Your Customer (KYC) verification before activation. You must not use the Platform to facilitate money laundering, terrorist financing, or any other unlawful financial activity. DutyBoost reserves the right to report suspicious activity to relevant authorities.

14. Prohibited Use

  • Generate, forge, duplicate, or reverse-engineer DutyCredit codes.
  • Submit false, cancelled, or fictitious booking data.
  • Engage in money laundering, terrorist financing, or illegal financial activity.
  • Attempt unauthorised access to other users' accounts or the Platform's systems.
  • Use the Platform to process transactions unrelated to legitimate travel retail redemptions.
  • Process false or simulated redemptions through POS infrastructure to inflate Revenue Share calculations.

15. Intellectual Property

All rights in the Platform, including software, content, trademarks, and the DutyBoost brand, belong exclusively to DutyBoost. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, revocable, non-sublicensable licence to use the Platform solely for its intended purpose.

16. Limitation of Liability

DutyBoost shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or special damages, including loss of bookings, revenue, or reputation. DutyBoost is not responsible for flight disruptions, airport closures, or any travel-related events outside its control. DutyBoost is not liable for the content or delivery of emails sent by Travel Partners to their travelers. Total liability shall not exceed the fees paid by the User to DutyBoost in the three months preceding the claim.

17. Suspension and Termination

DutyBoost may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you breach these Terms, engage in fraudulent or AML-related activity, fail to pay outstanding fees, or if your travel intermediary licence, airport retail concession, or POS provider authorisation is revoked.

18. Amendments

DutyBoost may update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated with at least 14 days' notice. Continued use of the Platform after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

19. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
